2008 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING/CONFERENCE
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR LEADING INDUSTRY SPEAKERS

We are delighted to have secured some top class speakers for the conference session to be held in conjunction with this year’s Annual General Meeting which this year will be held on one day, followed by a drinks and dinner. Details are as follows:

DATE: Thursday, 27 November

TIME: Commencing at 9.00 am with AGM (Click here for full programme)

VENUE: Crowne Plaza Hotel, 128 Albert Street Auckland

The date for the meeting has been chosen to coincide with the visit to Australia (and now New Zealand) of a group of Spanish furniture industry specialists. Details of this group are as follows:

Jesus Navarro Head up the Furniture Foresight Centre (CEFFOR) in Valencia, Spain. This is a research institute for the wood and furniture products industry

Vicente Sales: expert in Market Research and Business Strategy. Vicente works very closely with Jesús in the department. He will join Jesús in the presentation.

Rafael Pérez: FEVAMA Secretary General (Federación Valenciana de la Madera = Valencian Wood Federation)

Rafael Escamilla: IMPIVA International Programmes Manager (Instituto de la Mediana y Pequeña Industria Valenciana = Small and Medium Industries Valencian Institute.

This is a great opportunity to hear first hand what is happening in furniture industries in other parts of the developed world, the similar problems they are facing and the steps they are taking collectively to ensure a sustainable future for the furniture industry in their countries.

The day will be split into two sessions. In the morning discussion will centre on ‘A Pathway to a Sustainable Future for the Furniture Industry’ After lunch the session will focus on ‘SMEs and Cooperation/Collaboration’.

SMEs & COPERATION/COLLABORATION

We are delighted also that Professor Claire Massey, Director of the NZ Centre for Research into Small & Medium Enterprises and Head of Department of Management, Massey University has agreed to present to the meeting. Claire will open the session after lunch.

Claire leads the flagship research programme within the NZ Centre for SME Research , BusinessSMEasure, who have recently completed a survey on Collaboration between SMEs. She will talk about the results of this study, the implications and follow up work on this topic.

This will be followed by a presentation by Clare Mora, Director of Essenze International Marketing Limited. Clare will talk about her involvement in forming collaborative partnerships to overcome size disadvantages using case study examples of different scales of collaboration from making components to full blown company merger integration and examples of companies working together to achieve success in export markets and gaining premium price points.

The rest of that day will be left open to provide the opportunity for informal discussion between companies present on the pros and cons of forming cooperative partnerships as well as any other topics delegates may wish to discuss.

This will be followed by drinks and dinner. You will be able to attend all or part of the day depending on your interests but we encourage you to take the opportunity to stay over for dinner to network with other industry players.

FANZ MEMBER FEES

FANZ members plus one other person from their company, may attend the conference session free of charge. The only cost will be for the pre dinner drinks and dinner at a cost of $ incl. per person.

The registration fee for additional delegates from FANZ member companies for the business session is $57.55 +gst and for pre dinner drinks and dinner, as above.

Partners are welcome to attend the pre dinner drinks and dinner only if they wish at $75.00 + gst

NON FANZ MEMBER FEES

The registration fee for non members of FANZ for the business session is $88.88 + and for drinks and dinner $115.55 + gst.
